Colleen Wasson, MSW, LMSW
My Approach
I work with teens and adults across Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah struggling with anxiety conditions, OCD, and insomnia. This includes generalized anxiety, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety, and phobias. I also provide parent-focused treatment for caregivers supporting a child or teen with anxiety or OCD. My clients want to worry less, sleep better, and live with greater confidence and freedom.
My style is warm and collaborative, grounded in curiosity and respect for each client’s strengths, values, and lived experience. With a 25-year background in movement-based practices and outdoor sports in rural mountain communities, I bring a whole-person perspective to therapy, combining practical strategies and steady support to help clients feel more confident navigating life's challenges.
Education, Training, & Professional Memberships
I earned my Master of Social Work from Boston University with a specialization in clinical mental health, and have deepened my expertise through extensive post-graduate training in anxiety, OCD, and insomnia treatment. I draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT and ERP), acceptance- and mindfulness-based approaches such as ACT, and psychodynamic insights to help you understand what's keeping you stuck and build practical skills for meaningful change.
I also work with parents of anxious children and teens using the SPACE model (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), which I trained in at the Yale Child Study Center, to help them reduce parental accommodations that are oftentimes unintentionally reinforcing their loved one's anxiety or OCD.
For clients whose sleep struggles are getting in the way of living life fully, I use CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia), a structured, evidence-based protocol I trained in through the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.
I am an active member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS), the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
